Now she is also active in acting and doing some character roles in movies and tele-serials. She is the wife of Oriya actor Uttam Mohanty and mother of actor Babushaan Mohanty. Aparajita’s father belongs to Bhadrak, a Muslim by religion and her mother was a Hindu. She was terribly captivated with music, drama in her infancy days that conjures up her to create career in Ollywood. She shifted her base to Bhubaneswar and debuted in Seeta Labkush in 1980.
